The State Of RSS

Jeremy Allaire on RSS: Something I've been looking at for a long time, which is finally starting to get some traction, is the role that RSS can play as a transport for binary media. As Dave Winer has pushed and pointed out for a long time, and where Adam Curry is putting into practice right now, RSS 2.0 binary enclosures support a publish/subscribe syndicated media model. I think there is some value in this and would love to see a greater number of published services use this approach. The P2P file sharing community has also seen the benefits of this, and the various experiments to combine RSS enclosures with BitTorrent file transfer protocol also hold promise. ... paidContent.org link
