Nielsen Media Research informed its clients Tuesday
of a plan to incorporate Video On Demand viewing into the network and
local TV ratings beginning in second quarter 2006. ¶ The first phase of the plan will measure viewing to
recently aired programming that is viewed via VOD within seven days of
the program’s original air date. By fourth quarter 2006, NMR will add
VOD viewer estimates for theatrical movies, pay-per-view events, older
TV programs and other programming defined by Nielsen as “library
