Rafat Ali pointed to a PowerPoint by London-based Umair Haque called The New Economics of Media: Micromedia, Connected Consumption, and the Snowball Effect. When I got to the site, I discovered that it was paired with a second one called The Atomizing Hand: The Strategy and Economics of Peer Production. They're large documents -- about 100 pp. each -- and written using what is for me unfamiliar economic terms, but having read them on flights to Wisconsin yesterday, I think they present some fascinating thinking. When you have a couple of hours to spare, check them out. Link: Bubble Generation. --Dennis
