It's not well-known, even by many in the industry, but the iBiquity HD Radio standard is designed to be enable improvements in capabilities as they are developed without requiring retooling chips. One company, Radiosophy, has just announced the addition of an inbound-only USB upgrade port to its receivers (an outbound port would presumably also include the ability to extract digital music. --Dennis
