Will the new president in January 2009 be greeted with millions of angry former television viewers? The crack team that brought you the Katrina response and "Mess-o-potamia" (the Daily Show's term for the Iraq quagmire) seems to be doing only the legal minimum to prepare for the analog-to-digital transition. Articles about NTIA director John Kneuer's response by Ted Hearn in Multichannel News and by Phillip Swann in TVPredictions.com cover the situation. "You're doing a heckuva job, Johnny."

Good news is that DTV set-top boxes have come down from $400 to $200 at Circuit City here. Bad news is that they're barely stocked at all -- none available there or at Best Buy.
Of course, neither store has digital HD Radio receivers either.
