Curbing Torrent traffic seems like a mistake to me, but a fairly minor one. There are definitely legitimate uses of that system, but I think we can probably all agree that the vast majority of Torrent usage is illegal in nature.

However, blocking or shaping VPN traffic sounds like a colossal no-no to me. Sure, the fine print in your service agreement might allow them to do it, but they do it at their own peril. I was actually considering a switch to Clearwire up here in Anchorage, but now -- no way in hell. I use VPNs every day in my job and simply cannot give that up. An ISP that blocks my very real and legitimate traffic doesn't deserve the designation "ISP."
